Squantz Pond State Park, New Fairfield & Sherman, CT

Rectangular in shape, Connecticut extends 90 miles from east to west and 55 miles from north to south. The state is divided into 2 sections, the eastern highland and the western highland. These 2 sections are separated by the Connecticut Valley lowland. The Connecticut River flows through the northern half of the lowland. In the south the shoreline is bordered by the Long Island Sound, a popular place for boating enthusiasts.

Though famed for its rural loveliness, Connecticut derives most of its wealth from industry. The state's principal industries today produce jet engines & parts, electronics, computer equipment & helicopters. Much of Connecticut's manufacturing is for the military. The Stamford & Hartford metropolitan areas are fast becoming one of the world's premier hosts for corporate facilities. Ball Pond - New Fairfield, CT

Ball Pond, a natural body of water, is located in the southwestern section of New Fairfield. It has a maximum depth of 51 feet & a mean depth of 24 feet. A state-owned boat launch is located at the southern end of the lake but boats with motors are prohibited. The majority of the shoreline around Ball Pond is populated with residential housing.
